Dominique Derbigny Sims

Dominique is a champion for racial and gender economic justice, macro social worker, writer, facilitator, and certified yoga teacher. She grew up in a semi-rural town in Western Maryland and has roots in the Deep South, particularly the River Parishes of Louisiana. Witnessing disparities across geographies at the intersections of race and class, Dominique dedicated her career to creating a more just society and economy. She envisions a future where Black women and people of color are valued, invested in, and thriving.
Prior to joining Liberation in a Generation, Dominique was Senior Vice President at the Georgia Budget & Policy Institute where she provided programmatic strategy and coordination, editorial oversight, team and culture building, and organizational development. Prior to working at GBPI, Dominique served as Deputy Director of Closing the Women’s Wealth Gap where she led strategic planning, authored reports and articles, and designed and launched the inaugural CWWG Community Leaders Fellowship amplifying the voices of Black and Latina women experiencing economic inequality. She also previously served as Associate Director of Savings & Financial Capability at Prosperity Now and as Program Director of the MetroCASH free tax preparation coalition.\
Dominique obtained a MSW from University of Maryland, Baltimore, and a BA in Human Services from Elon University. She resides in Atlanta, GA with her husband and daughter.
