ADEMALI SENGAL

Policy Manager

Adem has dedicated his career as an organizer and policy researcher to advancing progressive economic and criminal legal policy. As the son of Eritrean political refugees, Adem was instilled with a deep appreciation for the power of politics to shape people’s lives and a sense of duty to engage in fights for a more just and equitable society.
In his career prior to joining Liberation in a Generation, Adem gained extensive experience in organizing and advancing local policy. As a leader in the Roosevelt Institute’s student network, Adem led national research on university endowment management that benefited financial institutions at the expense of students and faculty. Adem joined the Beto for Senate working from field organizer up to a Senior Field Manager leading half of the Greater Houston area staff to engage more voters than any campaign in Texas history. Following multiple experiences in electoral organizing, Adem joined the Grassroots Law Project as a Senior Organizer. Adem led coalition campaigns to create unarmed mental health crisis response teams, violence prevention programs, and mobilized communities to demand justice for those wrongfully imprisoned and killed by law enforcement. Adem holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science from Columbia University and a Master’s in Public Policy from Duke University’s Sanford School with a focus on affordable housing, structural inequality, and community organizing.
